Spring Self-Care

Have you noticed all the ads for gyms, supplements, and programs to get that perfect summer body? Yeah, me too.

It's that time of year again when we start shedding layers and dreaming of poolside days. Most of us feel pressure to look our best for these activities, but the truth is, you're already beach ready!

It can be easy to look outward for approval, but, unfortunately, we are usually our own worst critics. Loving and accepting yourself is key to achieving happiness and satisfaction with your life.

A great way to relax and feel your best is self-care. While you enjoy some pampering, you may even find some new things to appreciate about yourself. So, why not treat yourself to some of my favorite self-care rituals in celebration of spring?

Get a Massage

Now, this is the ultimate way to relax and soothe your muscles. Book a therapeutic massage, or let me give you a rubdown at the end of our date. For an at-home massage, get a chair massager or foam roller. In a pinch, take a nice hot shower to relax your muscles, then lay down with your back on a rolling pin and roll up and down to help remove knots.

Try a Facial

No, not that kind! Wash your face and boil a pot of water, then take it off the heat. Put your face over it and cover your head and the pot with a towel for a homemade steam treatment. After a few minutes, wipe your face dry and apply a treatment or sheet mask. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then moisturize liberally.

Treat Yourself to a Pedicure

Before you shrug this idea off as ridiculous, male pedis have grown in popularity in recent years. Sit back and relax while you're treated to a soak, callus removal, and foot massage. Or opt for an in-home version with a foot bath or simply soak your tired toes in the tub.

Take a Yoga Class

Sign up for a yoga or Pilates class at your local gym, or try out a session with goats for something fun that is sure to leave you smiling for the rest of the day. You can even try this out from the comfort of your living room with one of the many online instructors available. Bonus - this counts as your workout too!

Release Tension with Meditation

Does the idea of clearing your mind seem impossible in today's constant barrage of texts, emails, and notifications? Living in the 21st century is stressful so take a reprieve (even if just for 10 minutes) by centering your thoughts and focusing on your breathing. Try out these techniques or let an app guide you through your session.

Indulge in Self-Love

Ok, I saved the best for last. We all know that masturbation can relieve some serious stress and help you relax. But, too often, we focus on the destination of this activity and forget about the journey. Instead of making masturbation a hurried affair, take time to really enjoy and explore your body. Draw a bath, light some candles, diffuse some scented oils, and spend an afternoon or evening loving yourself. Better yet, let me join you for double the fun and pleasure. You deserve it!

This spring, as nature renews itself, do the same for yourself. Which self-care idea will you try first? Or, if you can't decide, let's pick one to do together!
